A touch of leather furniture at home provides sense of class and elegance. Many of us may not realize that leather is a very good material for any kind of furniture. Having a leather armchair at home is such a great investment since it can be placed in the living room, or even in the bedroom.

Some leather armchairs feature high-quality top-grain leather that is specially treated to resist splitting and cracking. With thick, flexible padding and the smoothest and most supple upholstery options available, the leather armchair is sure to be a comfortable piece that will last for years to come.

There are factors why having a leather armchair is considered to be a great investment. We all know that leather is durable. And when dealing with furniture, durability should be considered first. Rest assured that your chair will be with you for the years to come. And that's definitely worth the money used in buying it. Leather improves as it gets older, thus it provides more comfort to sit in as time goes by.

Leather armchairs provide a look of distinction to any room, but like any leather furniture, they require special care to keep them looking their best. Leather wipes are available at any local supermarket but they can be expensive. Leather wipes were designed to clean, condition and protect leather. The natural cleaners and oils rejuvenate and moisturize the leather. But, in order to clean your leather armchairs economically and efficiently, you can make your own cleaner.
In making your own leather armchair cleaner, you need to have the following; 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1/2 cup of neatsfoot oil, a glass or plastic container, and clean, lint-free cloths. Neatsfoot oil can be found in the cleaning supplies section of your local supermarket. In a clean glass or plastic container, mix 1/4 cup of white vinegar with 1/2 cup neatsfoot oil. Then gently rub the mixture all over the leather parts of your armchair in a circular motion using a clean, lint-free cloth. Allow the mixture to sit on your leather armchair overnight and rub the next day with a clean, lint-free cloth.

To remove mold or mildew from your leather armchair, mix 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol with 1/4 cup water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on a clean, lint-free cloth and rub the affected areas gently until the mold or mildew is removed.

Caring for and extending the life of your leather armchair mostly requires preventative maintenance with quality leather-care products. Use a high-quality leather cleaner/conditioner regularly to keep leather clean and supple. Avoid using cleaning fluid, cream, saddle soap and mink oil as these products contain ingredients that may damage leather. Test any protection and cleaning products on a hidden area of the leather. Avoid spraying household fragrances near leather furniture or applying hair sprays and perfumes. Don't use adhesives or tape on leather. Winter salt stains your leather, so wipe clean immediately and dry naturally. If your leather becomes wet, allow it to dry at room temperature. Never put leather in the dryer.
