As any of you who have tried to keep fit and healthy over the years will know one of the biggest obstacles to overcome in your quest for fitness is keeping yourself motivated enough to stick with the correct diet and an exercise plan that benefits you. When you first start an exercise plan or join a gym it is easy to have the motivation to keep going but after a while as things start to get a bit stale you tend to develop a lethargy towards the exercise plan and you start to slip into your old eating habits. So what can you do to keep motivated and help you achieve your fitness goals?

The loss of motivation is felt most by those people who go to the gym on their own as they do not have a gym buddy to keep pushing them on when times get difficult, if you have not got the motivation to try to push yourself then boredom soon sets in and you lose the will to keep going and training. For many people the answer is to hire a personal trainer to keep them motivated and pushing themselves.

Personal trainers are not necessarily that expensive, they usually charge by the hour and you can book them for any number of hours in one session. A personal trainer is usually contracted to work out of one or two local gyms and so they know the equipment that these gyms have in them, helping to give you a better, more efficient workout.

Before you book yourself a personal trainer it is a good idea to sit down and make a list of all the things that you would like to achieve by training and eating correctly, it is not always people who are over weight and unfit who book a session with a personal trainer, a lot of a personal trainers time is taken up pushing very competent athletes and helping them to achieve the next level of fitness. By writing yourself down an action plan you can then make sure that your personal trainer is in no doubt about where you want to get to and in what timescale.

How often you choose to utilize your personal trainer is totally up to you and may depend on factors such as money and free time. If you train for 3 x 2 hour sessions per week you may choose to book a personal trainer session for one hour at the end of the week and one hour at the beginning of the week, using the middle two hour session and an hour of each of the other sessions to work at your own pace and do your own thing. It is important to continue to train on your own even though using the personal trainer as the last thing that you want is to become dependent on your trainer, if anything happens to your personal trainer and they cannot train you for a period of time you still need to have the motivation and independence to continue to train on your own.

Using a personal trainer is no guarantee that you will achieve your fitness and weight loss goals but by using a personal trainer it should be much easier to keep motivated which will hopefully push you that little bit harder. A personal trainer can offer you help and advise on your work out and also give you pointers as to where you may be going wrong.

Using a personal trainer is not the solve all solution to everyone's fitness and weight loss problem but a good personal trainer certainly can help you achieve better results than you may have achieved on your own.
