Computer Space, developed by Ted Dabney and Nolan Bushnell, was the first coin operated computer game commercially sold in 1971. The arcade version of Atari's Pong was introduced in 1972 and the home version was sold in 1975. The great success of Pong led other companies to develop many Pong clones and their own consoles and systems. This is what spawned the computer game industry that flourished and has since become a multi-billion dollar yearly business.
