George Orwell was the pen name for Eric Arthur Blair who was born in 1903 and died in 1950. Orwell was one of the popular writers back in this era and was very popular for writing polemical journalism, fiction, literary criticism and poetry.

When Blair turned 5 he was sent to a convent school as a day boy in Henley-on-Thames. The reason for this was that it was said that his mother wanted him to have the best education that he could, although his family was not wealthy enough to pay for it. His mother asked her brother to see whether he could find a proper school where Eric Blair could be accepted. After some time they sent him to St Cyprian's School in Eastbourne, Sussex. At the school it was said that the headmaster decided to undertake Blair and help him win a scholarship, as well as helping his parents by making an agreement in secret for them to pay for only half of the normal school fees. Although he was sent to this school it was said that Blair hated it, but managed to write well enough to be published in school magazines, win prizes, then earn more scholarships into other more expensive colleges.

As Blair evolved as he became older he started to write professionally and then changed his author name to George Orwell. One of his most famous books is called Nineteen Eighty Four which was published in 1949. This book was known for the aspects that he wrote upon which were about oppression, poverty and squalor. Nineteen Eighty Four became popular in its time and was read by many people.

Although he was a well versed writer his lifestyle was not as healthy. Orwells lifestyle consisted of heavy smoking while having a bronchial condition. He also continuously placed himself in situations where it was constantly cold and damp, for both long term and short term. It was said that he had a love for strong tea and also was known for wearing casual clothing most of the time. As the years went on Orwell soon became sick and died in the 1950, and to this day some of his words are still read by many people, passed down from the different generations.
